
Den spanske regissøren Guillermo Del Toro vant den gjeveste prisen, for beste film, under Oscars 2018.
Acedemy Awards-utdelingen fant sted i Los Angeles søndag 4. mars 2018.
Guillermo Del Toro ble også kåret til beste regissør for The Shape of Water, og filmen fikk to andre priser: beste produksjonsdesign og beste musikk (av Alexandre Desplat).
The Shape of Water ble dermed kveldens store vinner.
Christopher Nolans Dunkirk på sin side fikk tre priser, og ble den eneste filmen som også fikk mer enn to priser, alle tekniske: beste filmklipp, beste lydklipp og beste lydmiks.
Frances McDormand fikk prisen for beste kvinnelige skuespiller for sin innsats i Three Billboards Outside Ebbing (som fikk terningkast seks hos KINOMAGASINET), og Gary Oldman den mannlige prisen for rollen som Winston Churchill i Darkest Hour.

Jordan Peele (regissør, produsent og manusforfatter) fikk prisen for beste manus (Get Out), mens Call Me by Your Name fikk prisen for beste adapterte manus. Dette er en romantisk dramafilm fra 2017, regissert av Luca Guadagnino. Manuset til James Ivory er basert på André Acimans roman «Call Me by Your Name» fra 2007.
Coco ble årets animasjonsfilm, og fikk også prisen for beste originalsang, «Remember Me.» (NB: Filmen fikk terningkast seks her hos KINOMAGASINET.)
Filmfotograf Roger Deakins (The Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, A Beautiful Mind, Skyfall,) fikk endelig en Oscar etter mange år med nominasjoner. Han vant for sitt arbeid med Blade Runner: 2049, som altså fikk prisen for beste filmfotograf. Filmen fikk også prisen for beste visuelle effekter.
